Mobile RV Electrical Repair — Diagnostics Done Right
Electrical problems are some of the most frustrating issues an RV owner can face — not because they're always expensive to fix, but because they're notoriously difficult to diagnose. A symptom like "my lights keep flickering" or "my slideout stopped working" could have a dozen different causes, and chasing the wrong one wastes time and money.
Electrical troubleshooting is one of our strongest skills. Guardians of the Journey's technician brings methodical, certified diagnostic expertise to RV electrical problems — including factory-level certification on Firefly Multiplex systems, one of the most advanced control systems found in modern RVs. We don't guess. We trace the problem systematically and fix the actual cause.
We come to you — at your home, campground, or storage facility — and we don't leave until we know what's wrong and why.
What Is Firefly Certification?
Firefly Integrated Technology makes the multiplex electrical control systems found in a growing number of premium RVs — including many Coachmen, Forest River, and Entegra models. Instead of traditional wiring where every switch connects directly to every component, Firefly uses a network-based system where modules communicate with each other electronically.
This makes RVs more capable and easier to use — but it also means that when something goes wrong, diagnosing it requires specific training and tools. A technician without Firefly certification is largely working blind on these systems.
Our technician is Firefly certified, which means we have the training, the diagnostic software access, and the system knowledge to properly troubleshoot Firefly-equipped RVs. If your RV has a Firefly system and something isn't working right, we're one of the few mobile technicians in the Charlotte region who can actually get to the bottom of it.
RV Electrical Problems We Diagnose & Repair
12-Volt DC System Issues
The 12-volt system powers most of your RV's interior — lights, fans, slides, water pump, control panels, and more. Problems here are common and range from simple to complex.
Lights not working or flickering Could be a blown fuse, a bad ground, a failing connection, or a control module issue on Firefly-equipped rigs. We trace the circuit to find the exact fault.
Dead or weak battery bank Batteries that won't hold a charge, won't charge properly from shore power or the tow vehicle, or are draining faster than expected. We test the full charging system — converter, battery condition, and connections.
Converter / charger not working If your batteries aren't charging from shore power, the converter is the first place to look. We test and replace converter/charger units on-site.
Water pump not working Usually electrical rather than mechanical — a blown fuse, a failed switch, or a wiring fault. We trace it quickly.
Slideout electrical faults Slides that won't move due to electrical issues — motor faults, controller failures, blown fuses, or wiring problems — are something we diagnose and repair regularly. See also our Slides & Awnings page for mechanical slide issues.
Control panel errors and faults Mysterious error codes, unresponsive panels, and phantom alerts are common in modern RVs with sophisticated control systems. On Firefly-equipped rigs we have the tools to read and interpret system faults directly.
120-Volt AC System Issues
The 120-volt system powers your outlets, air conditioner, microwave, and other high-draw appliances. These systems require careful diagnostics and proper safety practices.
No power to outlets Could be a tripped GFCI, a tripped breaker, a wiring fault, or a shore power connection issue. We work through the system methodically.
GFCI outlets tripping repeatedly A GFCI that won't stay reset usually indicates a wiring fault or a failing appliance on that circuit. We identify which one.
Shore power connection problems Issues with the shore power inlet, cord, or connection that prevent your RV from drawing power correctly from a campground hookup.
Appliances not working on shore power When specific appliances won't run on shore power but the circuit appears live, we trace the fault to the appliance, the wiring, or the breaker.
Wiring & Connection Issues
Corroded or loose connections One of the most common root causes of intermittent electrical problems. A connection that looks fine visually can be corroded enough internally to cause significant voltage drop and erratic behavior. We inspect and restore connections throughout the affected circuit.
Wiring damage Rodent damage, chafing, and moisture intrusion can all cause wiring faults. We locate and repair damaged wiring on-site.
Faulty switches and relays Switches and relays that fail intermittently are notoriously hard to catch — they work fine when you're testing them and fail when you're not looking. We use proper load testing to identify intermittent faults.
Firefly Multiplex System Diagnostics
If your RV is equipped with a Firefly system, electrical troubleshooting requires a different approach than conventional wiring diagnosis. Common Firefly issues we address:
Modules that have lost communication with the network
Switches or zones that are unresponsive despite no obvious wiring fault
System errors and fault codes requiring certified diagnostic software
Firmware and configuration issues
Lighting zones that behave erratically or won't respond to controls
If you've had another technician tell you they "can't figure out" what's wrong with your Firefly-equipped RV's electrical system, give us a call. This is exactly what our certification is for.
What We Don't Service
We want to be straightforward with you: we do not repair or service generators. If your issue is generator-specific, we'll let you know upfront and point you toward a qualified generator specialist rather than waste your time.
Why Choose Guardians of the Journey for RV Electrical Repair
Electrical troubleshooting is one of our core strengths. Not every RV technician is equally comfortable with electrical diagnostics — it requires a methodical approach, the right test equipment, and genuine experience. It's one of the skills our technician has developed most deeply, and it shows in the results.

Frequently Asked Questions — RV Electrical Repair
How much does RV electrical repair cost? It depends entirely on what's wrong. Electrical diagnostics take time, and the repair cost varies based on the fault and parts needed. We give you a clear estimate before any repair work begins.
Can you figure out an electrical problem that another technician couldn't diagnose? Often yes — especially on Firefly-equipped RVs where a non-certified technician is working without the right tools. Electrical troubleshooting is one of our strongest skills, and we approach it methodically rather than by trial and error.
Do you work on Firefly systems? Yes — we are Firefly certified, which means we have the training and diagnostic access to properly troubleshoot Firefly multiplex systems. If your RV has a Firefly system and something isn't right, we're one of the few mobile techs in the Charlotte region who can properly diagnose it.
My RV has an intermittent electrical problem that only happens sometimes. Can you still diagnose it? Intermittent faults are the hardest electrical problems to catch — but we know how to look for them. We use load testing, connection inspection, and system monitoring to find faults that don't show up during a simple visual check.
Do you repair generators? No — generator repair is outside our scope of service. We'll let you know upfront if your issue is generator-related and point you in the right direction.
What RV brands do you work on for electrical issues? All of them — electrical systems follow the same principles regardless of brand. For Firefly-specific diagnostics, we're particularly well equipped for Coachmen, Forest River, and Entegra models that commonly use Firefly systems.
Is it safe to use my RV with an electrical problem? It depends on the nature of the fault. Some electrical issues are nuisances; others are genuine safety hazards. If you're not sure, call us and describe what you're seeing — we'll give you an honest assessment of whether it's urgent.
