RV Furnace Repair
Common RV Furnace Problems We Fix
RV furnaces are propane-powered forced-air systems — similar in concept to a home furnace but built differently and with their own set of failure points. Here's what we commonly see and repair:
Furnace won't ignite The most frequent complaint. This is often caused by a faulty igniter, a failed sail switch, a dirty or blocked burner, or a propane supply issue. We trace the ignition sequence step by step to find the exact cause.
Furnace ignites but shuts off quickly If your furnace lights and then cuts out after a few seconds or minutes, the most common culprits are a blocked exhaust vent, a failing sail switch, or a limit switch tripping due to overheating. Left unaddressed, this can cause the control board to fail — so catching it early matters.
Blower runs but no heat The fan is working but the burner isn't firing. This points to an ignition or propane issue rather than a blower motor problem, and we diagnose it accordingly.
Furnace blows cold air Similar to above — the blower is running but combustion isn't happening. We check the igniter, gas valve, and control board to find the fault.
Furnace is loud or making unusual noises Rattling, squealing, or banging from your furnace usually means a loose component, a worn blower wheel, or debris in the system. We inspect and correct the source.
No power to the furnace Sometimes the issue is electrical rather than mechanical — a blown fuse, a wiring fault, or a failed thermostat. We check the full circuit.

RV Water Heater Repair
Common RV Water Heater Problems We Fix
RV water heaters run on propane, electricity, or both — and each mode has its own potential failure points. Here's what we regularly diagnose and repair:
No hot water at all Could be a propane supply issue, a failed igniter, a tripped ECO (energy cutoff) switch, a burned-out heating element (electric mode), or a faulty circuit board. We work through the system methodically to find the cause.
Water heater won't ignite on propane Igniter failures, electrode fouling, blocked burner tubes, and gas valve problems are the usual suspects. We inspect and test each component.
Water heater works on propane but not electric (or vice versa) When one mode works and the other doesn't, the diagnosis narrows quickly. A failed heating element, a bad thermostat, or a wiring fault in the electric circuit are common causes.
Water runs warm but not hot Usually points to a failing heating element, a partially tripped ECO switch, or sediment buildup in the tank reducing efficiency.
Water heater leaks Leaks can come from the pressure relief valve, tank fittings, or — in older units — from the tank itself. We identify the source and repair or replace as needed.
Pilot light won't stay lit On older manual-ignition models, a dirty thermocouple or a failing gas valve is usually the cause.
RV Water Heater Brands We Service
Truma — as a certified Truma Service Partner, we are factory-authorized to service Truma's AquaGo instantaneous water heaters — a premium system increasingly popular in high-end RVs. If you have a Truma AquaGo and it's giving you trouble, we're one of the few mobile techs in the region who can properly diagnose and repair it.
Atwood / Dometic — found in a huge percentage of RVs on the road today
Suburban — another widely used brand we service regularly

Pre-Season & Pre-Trip Inspection
Fall and winter are tough on RV furnaces and water heaters — especially if your rig sat in storage. Before heading out on your first trip of the season, a pre-trip inspection of your heating and hot water systems is a smart investment. We check:
Furnace ignition, burner, blower, and venting
Water heater ignition, heating elements, thermostat, and pressure relief valve
Propane supply and connections to both appliances
Overall system operation in both propane and electric modes (where applicable)
Catching a problem before your trip is far better than discovering it at the campground.

Frequently Asked Questions — RV Furnace & Water Heater Repair
How much does RV furnace repair cost? It depends on what's wrong and what parts are needed. We diagnose the problem first and give you a clear estimate before any work begins — no surprises.
Can you repair my furnace or water heater on-site without towing? Yes — that's exactly what we do. We come to wherever your RV is parked and complete the repair on-site. Most furnace and water heater repairs are finished in a single visit.
My furnace worked fine last season. Why won't it light now? Sitting in storage is hard on RV furnaces. Insect nests in the exhaust vent are a surprisingly common cause of ignition failure after a long storage period. Moisture can also cause igniter and control board issues. We see this regularly and know exactly where to look.
My water heater works on propane but not electric. Is that a big repair? Usually not. A failed electric heating element is one of the most straightforward RV water heater repairs — it's a common part and a manageable job in most units.
Should I repair or replace my older RV water heater? We'll give you an honest answer based on the age of the unit, the nature of the problem, and the cost of repair versus a new unit. We won't recommend replacement if repair makes more sense.
Do you service Truma heating and water heater systems? Yes — and this is a meaningful distinction. Truma systems require specific factory training and certification to service correctly. We are an officially certified Truma Service Partner, which means we're authorized and trained directly by Truma to work on their Combi heaters and AquaGo instantaneous water heaters. Many general RV techs will decline Truma work or attempt it without proper training — we're one of the few mobile technicians in the Charlotte area who can do it right.
Do you service DSI (direct spark ignition) water heaters? Yes — DSI systems are the most common type in modern RVs and we service them regularly.
